Gender, Health, Information and the Environment

The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) in collaboration with Life Sciences, East West University, is organizing an international conference titled “First Multidisciplinary International Conference on the Social and Life Sciences”, ICSL 2020 on “Gender, Health, Information and Environment” on February 27-29, 2020 at East West University,  Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The ICSL 2020 conference is conceived as a multidisciplinary initiative that aims to explore the complex, multifaceted, and gendered dimensions of society in relation to the humanities and arts, health, laws, information and environment. Today, society in general and educational institutions in particular, have appreciated the importance of multidisciplinary research. They fully believe that in order to deal more comprehensively with contemporary and future problems and issues, multidisciplinary research is of immense importance. The aim of the conference then is to initiate debate and discourses in gender, humanities, law, health, information and environment studies which will produce enhanced knowledge, if viewed from a multidisciplinary perspective.

At present humans have been experiencing globalization, liberalization and significant changes in the role of the new media. This process has been changing economic, social and political life, enabling not only many opportunities for some, but also creating huge challenges for many.  Anything other than a multidisciplinary approach therefore, will fail to deal with the complex realities of the contemporary age. There is thus an urgent demand at present for adoption of multidisciplinary perspectives for academics, researchers, policy makers and practitioners alike. A multidisciplinary approach, in fact seen indispensable in tackling problems that lie at the crossroads of academic disciplines.

This conference compares concepts of gender, health, law, information and humanities from a wide range of perspectives by bringing together experts from different disciplines to find answers of the complex questions raised globally. The goal of this conference is to provide opportunities for academics, scholars, researchers and students from all over the world to come together and learn from each other. We invite scholars, activists, and practitioners from the Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Life and Health Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Legal Studies, Development Studies, Religion, International Relations, Information Sciences, and feminist science studies to submit papers as well as to suggest panels that will contribute to the goal of the conference.

Multidisciplinary research offers the opportunity to open new areas of research, undertakes complex problems and increases investment in research by transferring the use of knowledge, tools, methodology and solutions generated in one discipline to other disciplines.

Participants must submit abstracts on-line to a selected session of Thematic Group. Only abstracts submitted on-line will be considered in the selection process. All abstracts will be accepted based on blind reviews; accepted papers will be later published in the Conference Proceedings with an ISBN number.
