1st International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management 25-27 April, 2019 Dhaka, Bangladesh
The 1st International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM 2019) was a collaborative effort between the Department of Information Studies of East West University and the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC). Held at the International Training Complex of BPATC from April 25-27, 2019, i-IKM 2019 marked a significant inaugural event of its kind in Bangladesh and was widely successful. The conference drew approximately 330 participants from 25 countries, including 90 local presenters, 200 local attendees, and 40 invited speakers and international participants. These individuals contributed to various technical sessions, poster presentations, and pechakuchas (lightning talks). A total of 88 papers were presented, including 5 keynote papers. Additionally, 18 pechakuchas and 9 poster presentations took place from April 26-27, 2019.

2nd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management 24-26 June, 2021
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the 2nd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM 2021) was organized virtually by the Department of Information Studies and Library Management of East West University, in association with the East West University Library. The conference took place from June 24 to June 26, 2021.
Building upon the success of its predecessor, i-IKM 2021 marked the second such initiative in Bangladesh and was well-received. The virtual platform facilitated the participation of approximately 200 individuals from 13 countries. A total of 49 papers were presented during the technical sessions held on June 25 and 26, 2021. These sessions highlighted and explored a diverse range of topics within information and knowledge management. Scholars from the USA, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, Bosnia Herzegovina, Sweden, Hong Kong, Turkey, India, and Bangladesh contributed to the technical sessions, sharing valuable insights, practices, and experiences from their respective national contexts.

The 3rd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management, 3-5 August 2023, East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh
The 3rd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM) was organized by the Department of Information Studies at East West University from 3 to 5 August 2023, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The theme for the 3rd i-IKM was “Inclusive and Equitable Access to Information for Smart Society,” emphasizing the significance of providing access to information for the development of a sustainable knowledge-based society. Around 200 individuals from ten different nations attended the conference. A total of 42 papers, including 4 keynote papers, 6 invited papers, and 32 contributed papers, were presented across different sessions.
The conference commenced on 3 August 2023 with a virtual session. The first day featured keynote addresses by Sirje Virkus, Professor, School of Digital Technologies, Tallinn University, Estonia, and Vicki McDonald, State Librarian, and Chief Executive Officer at the State Library of Queensland, Australia.
The Inaugural Ceremony of the conference was held on 04th August 2023. Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University, was the Program Chair, and Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies, graced the ceremony as the Conference Chair. The event started with a minute of silence to honor the memory of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, and other martyrs of 15th August. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries unveiled the proceedings of the 3rd i-IKM. Esteemed Gillian Oliver, Professor, Department of Human Centered Computing, Monash University, Australia delivered the keynote speech on “Accessing information in the age of misinformation: Learning from recordkeeping Informatics.” The Chief Guest emphasized the importance of ensuring inclusive and fair access to information for the development of society, while also acknowledging the efforts of the organizers. The Program Chair, Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, identified the role of the university authority in bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive and equitable access to information at East West University. He also expressed his gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic participation.
The third day of the conference comprised five technical sessions held parallelly in two different venues followed by a closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was graced by Gillian Oliver and chaired by Dr. Dilara Begum. Professor Gillian Oliver presented a short presentation on i-School. The Conference Coordinator Md. Hasinul Elahi, Senior Lecturer, Department of Information Studies, East West University presented the overview of the conference. Dr. Dilara Begum handed over the certificates to the invited speakers and presenters. The closing ceremony was concluded with the vote of thanks by the conference chair. In her speech, she admired the support and cooperation of the university authority. She specially mentioned about Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor, Founder Vice Chancellor and Founder Chairperson, Board of Directors, East West University for his relentless support during the conference.
